We took the ferry across to Dauphin Island one Monday morning. The ferry ride was lovely and we went immediately to the aquarium, which was charming and included up to date information about the effects of climate change on Dauphin Island and Mobile Bay. We drove around looking for a place for lunch and perhaps some shopping. There was nothing. So it turns out people live there and commute to Gulf Shores or Mobile for work. And dog owners come for the beaches that allow dogs. There is also an Audubon bird sanctuary. Sadly Dauphin Island wasn’t particularly very pretty nor compelling.
