Specifically the beach and eastern shore area. Rehoboth Beach is a gem of a beach town. In my top 10 list! The eastern shore, so named because it is a peninsula separated from the mainland by the bay, is sweetly pretty. It is always a treat for the eyes and my soul. We love it there which is why we decided to start out journeys there.
South Carolina
November, 2020 - March, 2021
While waiting for the Winter of 2020/2021 Covid Surge to calm down, we rented a corporate apartment in Greenville. While Covid pushed us to what we call “Drive-By-Tourism”, (I drove by that crowded restaurant, but I did not go in.), we explored what was safely available both in Greenville and the surrounding small towns and parks.
Tennessee
April, 2021
We came out of the North Carolina Hills in the pouring rain. Rounding a curve we got our first look at the Tennessee Smoky Mountains and nearly crashed the car it was so beautiful. So stunning, in fact that we were sorry we had not planned a side trip into the national park. We fell in love with all of Tennessee. The landscape is exceptionally beautiful and Nashville is a joy.
Alabama
May, 2021
We hadn’t expected to fall in love with the landscape of Alabama. We didn’t know that Alabama is considered the Amazon of the Northern Hemisphere. Streams and rivers cascade into Alabama from all the surrounding states, ending in the marshes, wetlands and estuaries of Mobile Bay. This is one of the most beautiful and unique places we have ever had the pleasure of exploring.
Lousiana

Wait for it! We will be in Louisiana at the end of May! We will be visiting New Orleans and Baton Rouge, followed by exploring the historic places and landscapes along the Mississippi River as we drive north through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, & back into Tennessee, before ending in St. Louis, MO

Wait for it! June finds us traveling up the Mississippi River, exploring small towns and historic sites till we reach Natchez, MS, the start of the historic Natchez Trace. We drove a piece of the Trace from Nashville down to the border. It was exquisite, informational, and fun. We are looking forward to going north this time to finish the entire Parkway!

Wait for it! After a short stop in St. Louis Mo, we are meeting our brother and his fiancee for some fun in Kansas City, which oddly is in Missouri AND a part of it is in Kansas. Don’t ask me why.

Wait for it! There’s an entire travel site dedicated to the various towns, state and national parks, scenic byways and historic sites to be found along the Kansas I-70 corridor. We thought we would explore a little!
Colorado

Wait for it! After 2 months of continuous movement, we finally get to settle in for a whole month in Denver. It gives us a chance to unwind, restock, and get ready for fall while exploring the area. We also get to visit an old friend of Mary’s and friends from Virginia are joining us!

Wait for it! Dinosaurs lived here! They left behind imprints in the mud and fossilized remains. We are exploring Dinosaur National Monument in search of awe-inspiring everything! In a more urban vein, we will be discovering the secrets of Salt Lake City!
