Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge promised Buffalo, but despite Wide open range of sites we never saw one or even a clue (like poop) of one. I’m wondering if, because of the heat, they had been herded off to cooler climates in the mountains. We did see some extraordinary birds and funny groundhogs. It’s also quite beautiful. Large spreads of prairie are interrupted by green shaded trees clustering around the few lakes and springs in the area.
